Melanie Faizer teaches History and Principles of Journalism, Editing, Multimedia Storytelling, Web Journalism and Entrepreneurial Journalism. Faizer was recipient of the 2014 Lecturer Award in the College of Communication and Information. She was a fellow at the Scripps Howard Entrepreneurial Journalism Institute at Arizona State University's Cronkite Journalism School in January 2015. Faizer is currently writing a digital textbook, Multimedia Storytelling: From Research to Realization (Great River Technologies, 2015).

From 1998 to 2009 she worked as a multimedia editor, manager and television producer at Bloomberg News in Princeton, NJ, New York City and London. Faizer also worked as director of information services and education at Opera America, a national nonprofit, from 2009 to 2011. She has published in a variety of arts, news and trade journals.
